Gene Wilder Selflessness Thinking of the Kids

Touching article to read.

Gene Wilder thinking of others.

Here is the except that touched my soul (and it about to touch yours):

"In a new interview with NPR’s Robert Siegel, Wilder’s nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman explains that his uncle kept his Alzheimer’s diagnosis a secret because he feared that, were it to become public, it would begin to interfere with his ability to bring smiles to people’s faces even in retirement. “This decision was not as a result of vanity,” said Walker-Pearlman. “There were times we would go out to dinner as a family and children would light up at the sight of him and smile. And because he never lost his instinct or sense or sensibility, it occurred to him that if that disease were made public … that then after that smile, some parent may then say something about disease or sadness. And he was such that he could not bear to be responsible for one less smile in the world.”"

One Woman Show

One of my bucket-list items is to see Oprah in person at one of her tapings.  With The Oprah Show now gone, I didn't think I'd ever get the chance.

Well, hello Life Class!

Oprah is coming to the Dallas-area for a taping of one of her LifeClasses.

I was all excited, might finally get to a taping with Ms. O!

Then I saw the subject:  "Bringing Families Together."

Specifically, Is too much dram destroying your family?  Are you disconnected from your family?

Well, nix that.  I don't have a family.

Oh Fonda...

My Dad used to talk very ill towards Ms. Fonda.  Seems like he's not the only one who didn't like her antics and arm waving back about the Vietnam War:

Kentucky theater won't show 'Butler' because of Jane Fonda:

New Awesome Celeb House

I am not ashamed to admit I follow celebs a little.  So, when media outlets link to their new homes, I take a gander at the photos to see what million$ of dollar$ can buy.

Most are very nice, and big, but this is the first one I REALLY truly like!  It's simple and beautiful.  Not complex, and very open.  I love this potential new home of Brittany Spears:

King Kong

My Dad told me I would like King Kong. He kept telling me to watch it. I finally did watch it - after he passed away almost three years ago, I watched his DVD of it on New Year's Eve in his room. He was right - the special effects in that movie are AMAZING! The sound effects were awesome as well!! (I'm starting to see a theme here - good visual special effects accompanied by awesome sounds/noises really entice my liking of a movie).

If you haven't seen the movie, I recommend it. I realize it came out a few years ago, but a friend of mine told me last night he had never seen it (even though it was playing on cable, too). I was shocked!
The river scene with that big fish monster! The T Rex's against King Kong is truly spectacular! I don't like the insect scene, but the special effects of the animals is truly something to witness.
I was very impressed, also, with Naomi Watts. She should be in more movies - btw she was perfect in this movie! Also, Jack Black is funny in this movie and Adrian Brody was awesome in his role!
I will fully admit, though, I have yet to see the ending of King Kong. It was on again this weekend and before the ending I turned the channel. I know KK dies. I know it will make me cry. I know.... I'm weird.

Isn't the Answer Obvious?

There is a headline over at People.com: "Would You Watch a Reality Show About Bristol and Levi?"

Um, not only no, but heck no. Seriously? That's a serious question? OMG....

So, I checked out the results of the poll, and I'm not alone! Out of like 15,000 votes, 27% think they'd be 'fun to watch,' while us other 73% say they are not interesting.

Invitiation of People in Your Life

John Edwards's daughter, Cate, recently talked about the "situation" that her parents went through. You know, when John had an affair, didn't admit to it, fathered a child, then admitted to it, blah blah.

This blog isn't about John or the affair, it's about an interesting comment his daughter stated that I hadn't considered from that point of view before. As read from People.com, Cate said, "There are the things she (her Mom) taught without words." Like "how to continue to live your life on your own terms when it somehow becomes savaged by people you never invited into it."

For some reason, that statement is very intriguing to me because it's such an different perspective. She isn't blaming the other woman or talking negatively about her in that sentence. Instead she views the woman in a very non judgmental way, as simply someone who was "never invited into it (their life)."

If many of us could consider such a perspective about people in our lives, I think it might help us in some certain situations in regard to our emotions and feelings, thoughts and concerns.

To Hell With It

You are going to think I am CRAZY, but I LOVE Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

I love the special effects and the SOUNDS! I can go on and on... :)

I never saw Hellboy, the first one, but when I read that Guillermo del Toro was directing Hellboy II, I couldn't wait for it to come out in the movie theatre! Guillermo directed Pan's Labyrinth. That movie, while not for the faint at heart and NOT about Fairies as you might think, had amazing special effects. Additionally, the sounds the creatures made were so impressive! Therefore, I couldn't wait for Hellboy II, and I was not disappointed.

Guillermo with the cast.

HellBoy II is also funny - it has some great, laugh-out-loud parts to it!

My favorite scenes:
  • when Hellboy fights Wink in the Troll Alley. Wink has a personality, and it shows in this scene. And the sound effects when he dies ( sorry for the spoiler ) is smart.
  • the entire scene with the Forrest God. The special effects, the like-ness to a human, the reactions to words, the SOUNDS he makes, and in the end he creates life. My only regret is we don't hear more sounds from the Forrest God.
  • i also liked when Krauss and Hellboy get into it in the locker room, lol.
  • of course I love it in the end when the Golden Army comes back to life. You can hear a choo-choo train sound at one point!
  • and finally, hearing the leather flaps of Prince Nuada's outfit while he fights and jumps in the last scene is awesome.

HellBoy II comes on all the time on my cable channels. I get all excited when I see on the guide that it will be coming on later that night! :) I can watch it over and over!!

Avatar

While I was apprehensive about seeing a 2 hour & 40 minute movie (I mean, who can make your nachos last THAT long?), enough friends said it didn't "feel" like a 3 hour movie so I decided to go check it out.

I decided against the 3D viewing, knowing James Cameron's work, I knew it would still be specatular and using the word "specatular" doesn't even come close to just how amazing it really was.

The special effects and action were AMAZING! I loved the movie. However, the reason the movie was also fabulous was because of the acting by a rising star named Zoe Saldana. She plays Neytiri in the film. She was phenomenal. When she cried with pain, you felt pain. Her voice described perfectly her emotions. It was truly amazing how she well she can act!

What makes her acting even more amazing is when you find out the acting of the "blue people" (as I call them) were done in a bland warehouse with little cameras pointing to their mouths and the actors in bodysuits with no props around them. To realize she showed those rare emotions in such an environment makes one appreciate her acting even more!

Tiger

Got his tail caught... err, his, ya know.

Anyway, check out what my good friend Phil Capelle has been saying about Tiger:

All this talk lately of Tiger makes one look at this pic differently now, doesn't it?

Poor Adam

Poor Adam... kissed a guy onstage at an award ceremony and now Good Morning America canceled his morning show where he was gonna perform some songs.

Why do people really care that he kissed a guy? What gives! Break the barrier, Adam! You go girl! I mean, you go guy!

It's His Loss

I wasn't sure what to title this blog article, but instead of focusing on MY loss, I realize now it's HIS loss.

The amazingly handsome and sexy Channing Tatum was married this month (July 2009) . He married his leading lady co star from Step Up (yeah, I don't like her much).

Every movie he is in.... I go see. :) I'm the same way with James Marsden. :)

To mourn their union, errr, mourn HIS loss, here are some pics of the sexy man himself:

Oohhhh... such a sad day... :(

Gossip

You may or may not know this, but one of the websites I frequent is People.com.

They have been recently posting stories about people I've never even heard of. Turns out, most of them are on Gossip Girl. I haven't watched one episode, don't even know which channel it's on, and I wont even google it to even provide ya a link in this blog (that's how uninterested I am in it). But many of the actors and actresses sure get A LOT of press coverage. Who changed their hair, who got married, who's fighting with who, who made up, who's kissing who, etc. The show must have a lot of characters on it, because there sure is a lot of stories about so many people that are on the show.

Oh well; I don't mind I don't know anything about the show. :)

$150 Million Home For Sale

People is reporting that Aaron Spelling's mansion is for sale. What does it include you wonder?
  • bowling alley,
  • wine cellar,
  • three gift-wrapping rooms,
  • library,
  • gym,
  • screening room,
  • humidity-controlled silver storage room,
  • tennis court,
  • fountains,
  • a water fall,
  • a pool and spa,
  • a reflecting pool and
  • 16 car ports.
It's the largest home in Los Angeles County. It's a French chateau-style property that has 56,000 square feet of space and is settled on 5 acres of land.

I, of course, wonder why there are THREE gift wrapping rooms. And what is the difference between a pool and a reflecting pool? What kind of reflection is that? For the soul or an under water-reflection-type thing?

Let the bidding's begin!!

Movin Moved, Dammit

WTF? Movin 107.5, one of the best stations in Dallas Fort Worth (hip hop, R and B and dance music) switched to a Spanish station literally overnight. Now I found myself not even finding any good songs at all on the other stations. I miss it dammit!!

Here's an article about the "move"...

'Movin’ right off the radio dial: CBS switches 107.5 FM to Spanish-language format

Fans of pop/R&B station KMVK/107.5 FM "Movin’ 107.5" may have been fiddling with their radio dials about 1 p.m. Tuesday, when the station abruptly cut off Madonna’s Vogue and, after a moment of silence, came back with Juanes’ Gotas de Agua Dolce, the very first song played on Spanish adult-contemporary "Mega 107.5 FM."

The format switch happened so fast that the usually busy (and often inaccurate) radio rumor mill barely had time to get going. Even the Movin’ Web site, www.movin1075fm.com, had quickly changed to reflect the "Mega" flip (It’s now www.mega1075.com). According to yes.com, a Web site that features song logs from radio stations nationwide, Mega’s first hour included songs by Juanes, Aventura and Enrique Iglesias. Some Movin’ artists, such as Shakira, made the transition to the Spanish-language format.

Calls to Dallas executives at CBS Radio, which owns KMVK, were not returned as of late Tuesday afternoon. But a CBS Radio release said that the station will target 25- to 54-year-old Spanish-speaking adults. "The Metroplex is one of the largest Hispanic markets in the United States, making up 24 percent of the city’s total population," the release said. It also said the station will start by playing 10,000 songs in a row.

According to industry site AllAccess.com, all of the Movin’ air staff, including morning host Chris Shine and afternoon personality Gina Lee Fuentez, lost their jobs. The Movin’ format went on the air in October 2006, replacing the smooth-jazz format of the long-running "Oasis."

RIP, Movin' 107.5. Here's a tribute.

Thank you Madonna

My Dad didn't like Madonna too much, but I sang my little heart out in my car or in my room when I was in my teens and 20s to her uppity, very popular songs. I enjoy Madonna's music; I'm not afraid to admit it, either!

Someone who I cared about hurt me. So, when I practiced this past week and weekend with my ipod, and when I did yard work with my ipod, I decided to listen to Madonna's Immaculate Collection, instead of my usual pool playlists. My playlists are too tough to listen to right now. Too "raw" (which is usually a word people use to explain that not enough time has passed).

Thank you, Madonna. Your songs were upbeat, amazing, and allowed me to not think - just sing and enjoy the sounds and passion in your voice. It was much needed and it was much appreciated.

Oh, Heath Baby

I was so saddened to hear of Heath Ledger's passing yesterday afternoon. I was so moved about his death, I immediately called my Mom and share my extreme disbelief and utter shock. I loved him in Casanova (especially!) and 10 Things I Hate About You. Although he was very good in Brokeback Mountain, I didn't care for the movie all that much.

You will be missed, Heath.

Here are some photos from Casanova:
